When Guttenberg "Attacks"

G is for Gossip: 06/18/2008 7:33 PM
There he was, just a joggin' down the street.

Singin' doo wa diddy, diddy dum, diddy--

AAAAHHHHHHHGGGG!!!!!   <----- brontosaurus mating call

We imagine that's the sound Steve Guttenberg made upon spotting our photographer and some random videographer as he was jogging through the Upper West Side yesterday.

Steve suddenly lost interest in his banana and went on a yelling/flipping off/fake-out punching frenzy.

*slow clap*

Oddly, we have the exact same reaction when we bite into a slightly under ripe banana.

Um, have a nice evening, Stevie.

Well, on the positive side, people all over the Internet are saying, "So that's what happened to Steve Guttenberg..." this morning.

sparkys nemesis says:

Amazing he reacted so violently. First off, he should be thrilled for the publicity...that anyone cared. Secondly, I know 2 people who are acquainted with him personally and he's supposed to be a really warm, nice guy.

Cyndi says:

Is he serious? His expression is almost comical. I mean...really.

June 19, 2008 5:37 PM
Rob says:

Yeah... he's just joking around...

He didn't really punch the guy... believe me

G is for Gossip says:

C'mon, guys. That's what the quotes were for. S-Gut was just playin'.

June 19, 2008 6:50 PM
Shadow says:

Bull, Steve had to be just kidding around. My wife and I met him just last Sunday at a local pizza parlor near where his parents live and he was warm, friendly and very approachable. We talked with him for almost 30 minutes while we all ate pizza. Then he posed for a picture with us. I'd venture to say he was just having some fun with you guys.

Snoopy says:

These are a joke right? They don't look real. They look like a joke. Everyone else is noticing that right? That this is a joke. It just doesn't look serious.

June 20, 2008 5:08 AM
dvd says:

So staged! If this is true, then why is he always looking at the camera, and not the guy taking the pictures. This hoax is all well and good, but AOL is reporting this as 'fact' on their front page. Shame on AOL...

June 20, 2008 5:25 AM
meandmyrc says:

You know, maybe he was just having a bad day and didn't want his personal life splashed all over the front page. I mean honestly, it would get REALLY OLD if you could not even take a jog or eat a banana without feeling stalked! I wish they would make some sort of law to put a STOP to all of this medis bulls**t and make them let people lead their personal lives in peace. I bet if people started following them around every minute of the day they would get a little miffed about it to. So I say "KUDOS" to you Steve, I wish you could have punched them one good time for me!

June 20, 2008 6:21 AM
annie says:

I don't blame him. Imagine how it feels to have your privacy taken away. I'd be in a rage too. And I'm a mild mannered girl.

Come on... These are Completely FAKE!!! Please people, you can't honestly think these are real, can you?

I've met him in the hamptons and he was always more saint than sinner.

Angela says:

I think these are hysterical. It's obvious that he's hamming it up. I especially love the one where it looks like he's holding the camera in this hands. That one's priceless.

Kudos to him for making it a fun thing instead of truly tripping out ala justin timberlake.

June 20, 2008 7:14 AM
Love says:

Hey I love Steve , hes the best!! If you followed me around and bugged me like the press ALWAYS do celebs.... I'd give you plenty to blog and sale to tabloids, HaHaHa!

June 20, 2008 7:23 AM
Lee says:

if pricks like you came up to me....I'd deck you, pick you up off the ground....and deck your sorry butt again....and do it all over. Wouldn't hurt your camera, though. It probably has some class.

June 20, 2008 7:30 AM
Lissette says:

I wish he had punched the photog. Serves them right. I'm sure there will be a law passed to get these photogs to lay off because they are really crossing the line. Get a real job paps!! You all look like a bunch of losers!!

June 20, 2008 7:32 AM
GAMMO says:

Good for Steve! I think he looks like he's playing around with the photographer, anyway. But good for him because the paparrazzi are disrespectful and rude -- you deserve it. Let the poor guy take a jog in PEACE.

June 20, 2008 7:40 AM
Dino says:

Steve should not take the chance of injuring his hand by punching a low life paparrazzi. Should carry aroung a sawed off baseball bat and use that next time.

June 20, 2008 7:51 AM
ryan says:

hahaha this is great! i like that he is actually eating a banana in the first picture.. where did the peel go thats what i want to know!?

June 20, 2008 7:51 AM

Well, this looks very staged to me. This guy is one of the nicest guys on earth.. just doesnt make sense. I guess someone is trying to trump up business~

Clearly more bullshit spewed out by people who have failed at life and must instead latch on to the lives of celebrities in a last-ditch effort to gain some sense of purpose.

He didn't just randomly flip out, there is clearly some story behind the pictures that we are not being told. Story is a joke, get real jobs.

June 20, 2008 8:27 AM
nadine nash says:

when i was looking at the photos, my comment to my sister was that they look like he was playing with those guys, I know Steven from his past, way back when and he is way too nice to just lash out at these guys. He loves to joke and thats probably exactly what he is doing.

stellablu47 says:

Of course it's a setup. He's a good actor, popular actor but seems to get crappy roles. When Dancing With The Stars didn't give him any movie opportunities then why not court the pappies. Then everybody will be talking about him, he'll get on the talk shows. He'll be a name again. Bravo.

Its easy to get angry at the paparrazi but he should of handle it in a different way. He is a good actor very funny but hes older now and this type of behaviour would be acceptable for someone who his 20's and immature but not for someone who is in his 40's. He should kept his cool and simply walk away its not worth getting physical with these people.

yeah, these are totally fake/staged. He's not that good an actor

June 20, 2008 10:17 AM
Jeff_S says:

I know these guys are public figures, but that doesn't give the media the right to harass their private lives 24/7. From what I've seen of the money/story-hungry media, and until laws get passed that protect from privacy intrusions, it looks like more and more of this type of reaction from celebs is going to happen. The harassment and intrusions are inexcusable, and I for one commend the celebs that react like this - or at least understand why. Media types always portray this as negative and unacceptable behavior - when it's the media that's the real annoyance. Whatever reaction these guys get from folks, is either well-deserved or at least understandable!

Don't blame him, there needs to be some laws protecting people from the Paparatzi. The photographer should be put in jail.

Robert says:

So how much did he pay you to stage these pix? Not 1, but 2 photogs stalking the Gute? Really? Really??
Come on Steve, taking pictures pretending that you're really a bad ass is not going to change your image, make people think you're a bad boy or help your career... and you should fire the moron who suggested it would.
I'll give you some good advice for free... just go back to doing some solid comedies and playing some heartwarming characters. You do have fans out there and they don't want to see you degrade yourself like this.

he must be in great shape, to go jogging and not break a sweat. noooooooooo, wait. it was his stand in double who was sweating. im usually drenched in sweat. i guess the hollywood types are different than us working stiffs.

spam says:

He is so obviously posing in these FAKE photos. We are supposed to think "Oh Steve Gutenberg, you are so controversial," but his poses are so stupidly fake and posed that I don't think he's fooling anyone. You can't blame the guy for trying to jump start his career with a little controversy, but I'm afraid you can't pretend to be controversial.

June 20, 2008 10:48 AM
Eric says:

These pictures are so fake. He's pretending to be mad.
Look at this picture for example. Look at his fist. It it were moving at fast rate of speed it would have motion blur, but it doesn't. It's a little out of focus because the camera is focused on Steve's face. The bottom line is that all these pictures are fake

One more example. There are two pictures Steve throwing a punch. It's amazing how the photographer doesn't even flinch before he's being hit, and the camera is perfectly centered. No tilt at all.

the hiker says:

guttenberg used to live here in Pacific Palisades, California, where he was our honorary Town Mayor for a year. I ran into him twice in the village - once at a gas station while we both pumped gas into our cars, and once at a partysupplies store. On the latter encounter he had two children with him. He's a really nice guy - I think he was just having a lot of fun with a stupid papparazzo.

June 20, 2008 1:00 PM
Jeff_S says:

I never said we should care about whether this guy is a turw celebrity, popular celebrity, or just the guy next door that somehow mades the headlines - the point is that the press is totally out of control and needs to have common sense privacy boundaries implemented. If you or I behaved like the press anywhere to anyone, we'd be arrested immediately. It's disgusting, and, unfortunately, if it take s few folks to lose their tempers and create a few black eyes, I'm not losing any sleep over it. The press - human parasites of the Earth.

This picture is old. Steve is gray and much older now. Not to mention, he is a clow and this picture is obviously of him goofing off. Don't spin it in another direction for pictures only. That's not fare.

DUH....he's goofing off. In one photo where he's grabbing the camera of the guy in the car, you can see the photog. smiling.

He was reportedly signed-up to play in the Travelers Celebrity Pro Am golf tournament,in Cromwell, Ct. on that same day, the 18th, along with Aidan Quinn and Luke Wilson, but didn't.Too bad, 'cause he is a good golfer and entertaining, too. Good to see he was keeping up his potassium intake while on the run in upper Manhattan, tho!

It's obviously fake, people. And it's hilarious. Can you blame the guy for having a sense of humor? Who cares if he's not the most famous of the famous? He's still allowed to have a good laugh. AND anyways, look at the attention it's drawn. I'd say that if press is what they were looking for, they definitely got it.
These pictures are hysterical, I can't get enough of it!! :)

MJ Gravina says:

He he..

This is not an actor attacking papparazzi. This is him fooling around.

Here is what does it for me. Look at the photo of Steve eating the banana. His hat is forward. Do you mean to tell me that before losing his temper so badly as to commit assault on another citizen he would actually take the time to flip his hat around before jumping onto the other photos? Which celebrity fights a photographer and exposes their faces even better to the camera?... No, he was getting into character. Otherwise it would be a first in the history of Celebrities Vs. Papparazzi.

Kudos for this website posting the photos, though they oughta be more clear about the incident.

And shame on Foxnews.com, who instead of informing, uses this sort of thing to create doubt and awe... Did Steve G. beat up a reporter?...
